RedLine Contemporary Art Center will launch the year with Nice Work If You Can Get It, featuring work by RedLine Resident Artists and curated by Daisy McGowan, Gallery Director & Curator for the Gallery of Contemporary Art, Colorado Springs. This exhibit will explore the reality of “making it” as an artist demands hard work, space and funding. McGowan notes that the show “will serve as case study to illuminate what it means – and what it takes – to work as a contemporary artist in this place and time. The aim of this exhibit is to reflect a process of discovery and dialogue about the nature work and reality of working artists in our modern economy.” Nice Work If You Can Get It, the ninth annual Resident Artist show, includes twenty-seven current artists and recent alumni from RedLine’s nationally recognized residency program. The show will be on view at RedLine Contemporary Art Center from January 20 through February 26, 2017. It is the first major exhibition of RedLine’s (dis)Place, a year- long series of exhibitions, programs, creative place-making, and socially-engaged art projects that will explore the many complicated layers of what makes a “place.”
